Malo is a bit of an extreme dog in terms of working drives. He tends to go in full force with no thought to self preservation. On the field he is a beast with a full force attitude and punishing bites. His obedience is crisp, flashy and very up beat. He is an impressive dog to watch in all venues. He has very high prey drive with a good blend of bite drive and a naturally competitive nature. He takes the work very seriously. Training is always a fun challenge. Malo is not phased by environmental pressure and gets stronger with social pressure.
Malo was a very powerfully athletic dog but he lacked some grace. Unfortunately, Malo's sport career was put on hold, almost permanently after an injury. The injury was the result of jumping off the top of a palisade jump and landing wrong. After seeing several specialists it was discovered that he tore the quad muscle off of the bone (a very uncommon injury in dogs). The injury has caused permanent damage but after almost two years of rest and therapy the vet okayed him to return to training. However, being that this was a permanent injury Malo's ability to jump and work for long periods of time was severely compromised. He has accomplished several working titles but never reached his full potential.
Off the field, Malo is a goofy in your face bulldog that is a pleasure to be around. He is social with people, good with kids and non dog-aggressive, even with other intact males. Most people that meet him on the field first can't believe he is the same lazy dog in the house. He has a great on/off switch. He is very stable and has good nerves both on and off the field.
Although, slightly more bully than many of our dogs he tends to produce athletic standard type hybrids. He consistently throws social dogs with good nerves, good structure and good working drive.
